A dual-core dehumidifier uses two semiconductor cooling plates instead of one. The second core increases the surface area that condenses moisture, so the unit pulls more water per hour from the same room volume. Most samples list tanks between 50 and 106 ounces and coverage up to 1000 square feet.
These units stay compact because they skip the heavy compressor found in refrigerant models. That makes them easier to move between rooms, but it also means they work best in warmer conditions. Below roughly 60 degrees Fahrenheit, semiconductor cores lose much of their extraction rate.
The selection includes tanks from 50 ounces up to 106 ounces. Larger tanks mean fewer empties, but they add weight when full. A 106-ounce tank holds over three quarts, which is heavy to carry to a sink. Smaller 50-ounce tanks suit closets or RVs where space is tight.
It has two cooling plates instead of one, so it condenses more moisture per hour at the same room temperature.
They lose extraction rate below roughly 60 degrees Fahrenheit and work best in warm, humid spaces.
Samples range from 50 ounces up to 106 ounces.
Some samples include a drain hose for continuous drainage, while others rely on auto shut-off when the tank fills.
